Theatrical Technician, Technical Director, Designer, and Photographer

Assistant Technical Director

I am currently in my third year as the Assistant Technical Director for the Virginia Stage Company (2008-09 season and 2009-10 season), a LoRT D theatre in Norfolk, VA.  I am responsible for a shop staff of 3 (2 carpenters and 1 intern).  I also assist with the drafting and budgeting of each show.  Because we are so close to the rivers in our lovely theater downtown, and our basement resides below sea level, I am also an expert flood cleaner-upper! Below are my portfolio pages from Virginia Stage Company’s 2008-09 season, though unfortunately there are no pictures from our various bouts with floods, so you will just have to take my word on that one!

Aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, we did a USO style show for the summer. It was quite an interesting experience, and the ship and those who work for Nauticus were amazing!

I also was employed as the Assistant Technical Director for Cortland Repertory Theatre’s 2007 summer season.  I was responsible for keeping organized a fairly cozy shop (most building happened outdoors, although our theatre- which was a half hour away- was an indoor space) and the supervision of 3 shop members (2 carpenters and 1 intern), as well as the education and supervision of 6 performance interns, who rotated through the scene shop each show in pairs.  Below are portfolio pages from Cortland Repertory Theatre’s 2007 season.
